Tryfon Koutsourelis / Composer
Tryfon Koutsourelis is an award-winning Greek composer of contemporary music based in London. Known for his innovative compositions and deep artistic sensibility, he has been a central collaborator with Anamnesis and Apostolia Papadamaki since 2014, composing original scores that bring life to interactive and site-specific performances.
Tryfon’s artistic journey began with studies in piano and advanced music theory, further enriched by private lessons with the internationally acclaimed soloist and conductor George Hadjinikos (a student of Carl Orff and a lecturer at the Royal Manchester College of Music).
His professional experience includes working as a production assistant to Frederick Rousseau (Jean Michel Jarre/IRCAM) on various productions at Vangelis Papathanassiou’s studio between 2007 and 2009.
Since 2018, Tryfon has composed the music for all major Anamnesis performances, including From Darkness to Light, Delos, Ancient Zone, All Is One, As Above So Below, and The Oracles of Water.
His collaboration with Apostolia Papadamaki has also extended to groundbreaking works such as Drops of Breath (2015), the world’s first underwater dance performance, and Drops of Peace (2016), presented at venues like the Kalamata International Dance Festival.
Beyond his work with Anamnesis, Tryfon creates music for films, contemporary dance projects, and personal compositions. Notable works include Musical Approach to the Works of Painter Yannis Spyropoulos (in collaboration with the Spyropoulos Foundation and the Vorres Museum) and Music and Cosmos, an electronic-ambient improvisational project performed on a custom instrument setup using alternative MIDI controllers.
His most recent orchestral and electronic work was recorded in Budapest and released by EMI UK.
