[Símban] /Choreography Apostolia Papadamaki for the Greek National School of Dance
The performance [Símban] (Universe) is a sacred ritual of movement, light, and sound that invites us to remember the cosmic dance in which we are all a part and the infinite possibilities of our future when we connect with ancient wisdom.
Harmony, Sacred Geometry, Light, Word, Body, and Greek Thought combine in this performance, offering a holistic experience that unites the visible and invisible worlds. The harmony of numbers and archetypal movement are central themes, highlighting the unbroken thread between past, present, and future.
Combining spirituality with the art of dance-theater, Apostolia Papadamaki creates performances-experiences that function as dance meditations. These performances aim to expand the consciousness of both artists and spectators, offering a deep connection with the inner and cosmic universe.
In this performance, each element has its own significance: harmony reflects the balance of forces, sacred geometry mirrors the divine order of the world, light symbolizes knowledge and revelation, the word expresses the power of thought and communication, and the body becomes the medium for expressing all these principles through movement.
"Simban" is an invitation to a journey of self-knowledge and discovery, where art becomes our guide towards understanding the world and ourselves, reminding us of our need for the endless quest for truth and wisdom.
The performance was created for 23 first-year students of the State School of Dance and presented at the Olympia Municipal Theater / Maria Callas on January 8, 2023.
